Wizard of Oz is on and had a thought about a deleted scene

by ForumAdmin » Sun Dec 21, 2023 2:01 am

Wiz of Oz is on for holidays. did you know there was a whole scene that took 5 weeks to make and cost 80 grand. It was called the "Jitterbug scene" and was deleted and is lost. Blanche Sewell was the editor of the movie so it is safe to say he probably has the footage stashed away somewhere it would be great to find it and make it available again. Oh they cut it because they needed to shorten the movie when aired 1st time for a preview it was 2 hours long which they felt was too long so they cut scenes out.

That's interesting. I had never heard about the scene. It would be wild if they found it and added it back in for a re-release or DVD edition.

Most stage productions of it have the scene still included.

I found that out but it is the rehersal version with no sound. I'd like to see the real version spliced from the movie.

They are attacked by giant flying jitterbugs and there is a Dance involved.
