Indie Spotlight creation process

by ForumAdmin » Sun Feb 07, 2024 4:20 pm

We here at Shocker Toys would like to explain that we do all our toys in 3-d process and have since Indie Spotlight series1 designs.

It is easier to make changes and we can gauge interest with a choosen panel before the figure is produced. You will see this process more in depth at NYTF next week when we reveal our IS Series3 figures.

Rifter- Please take some pictures man. Lots of pictures, Please!

I live all the way out in California, so there's no way I'll get to see the ToyFair stuff, with the exception of the few pictures that make it around the net.

I'm really excited to see the ToyFair coverage this year. Besides just what ST has to show, there seems to be a few big reveals from some of my other favorite toy brands too. This makes me feel like a kid at christmas time again, and I'm not even getting anything. :p Can't wait.
It sure feels great to be a "Kool-Aid drinker!" -as I've been called many times.

Actually make that a double order Andrew, please. Please, please, please, pretty PLEASE! Take some pics for WWH and I. I also would love to know as much as I can on that 3d sculpt for the Indies Geoff's talkin' about. Ja'laar...rendered in 3d, it's happened. I even posted pics on the forum. I would so sh* myself if I could just send my data files to Shocker for figs. My Raphaello proto's a slow go man, I'm gettin' there but it's having the motivation to keep doin' crappy sculpt I'm lacking at times. Oh and kinda hard to get to anywhere from Arkansas. So I feel WWH's pain here.

Look forward to seeing more 3d work to come. My own stuff very soon. I leave you all now with a peek at Ja'laar as is right now. He is still being worked on though. Disclaimer: Ja'laar & The Rift copywrite Andrew LoVuolo. Ja'laar 3d mesh freelanced by Dustin Moudy, yes I actually did make a request of Andrew while working on this. I asked Andrew that I be allowed to reuse mesh parts from Ja'laar as I saw fit under no reservation except that the end product not resemble Ja'laar except to the point that Ja'laar does have a humaoid body. To which he agreed.

I'll try to remember WWH! I know Geoff is generally good about pics, but TF is mostly 90% beanies, hula-hoops, and hacky sacks. The rest of the stuff has been good to lousy in the past few years of attending the show and you need an appointment and/or an account with certain companies since it's a trade show and retailer-invite event. I know I'll be looking into NECA, Diamond Select, DC Direct and Mattel. Also Underground Toys as my retailer friend has accounts with most of them. I'm DYING to see the new Star Wars (OTC) stuff like the new AT-AT and Snowspeeder, but Hasbro is a place where you need an apt. AND sometimes an account where you need to drop $20K just to get in!

I'll definitely be stopping by the Shocker Toys booth though to see what's up their sleeves this year and to talk to Geoff and the team about possibly picking us up again for Indie Spotlight since our contract expired in 2009 and I've been hanging in here with them for some time now. : )

We'll be driving out from Boston same day and returning same day so we'll be exhausted, but it should be fun. I'm sure figures.com, actionfigureinsider.com, and other popular toy sites will all be covering the show with TONS of pics. It will be cool to see IS 3 and the other newly teased products as well.
